Antique Handmade Copper Bowl. This was sold to me as a silver bowl but it was so black and tarnished it was hard to tell. Silver polish didn’t work on it at all and the underside revealed a bit of copper color and green patina when I used a copper polish.
I think it’s either an Ottoman or Turkish copper bowl, likely dating back to the 18th, 19th or early 20th century. These bowls were commonly used in homes and hammams (bathhouses) and made of heavy copper, sometimes with a tin lining, particularly in regions known for copper crafting. Used for serving food, holding bath items, or as decorative pieces. Handcrafted with hammered textures.
Due to age, and handmade / hammered construction there is wear, an uneven surface and heavy patina but I intentionally don’t remove the patina from copper item and only use a light polish to clean them. Weighs over 2 lbs.
